Split
Peel is split to a width the weaver can hold. Too wide and the basket looks factory; too fine and it cuts the hand. That judgement is the loft.

Reed Nook is a short loft of rattan — baskets, a stool, a hamper — woven over timber moulds. Nothing here is extruded plastic with a cane print. If a joint is wrapped, someone sat at the bench and wrapped it.
The hours
Three things a machine still cannot fake.
Soak
Cane is soaked until it will bend around a mould without snapping. Each diameter takes a different bath. We do not skip it to hit a price.
Wrap
Handles and joints are wrapped, not stapled. A wrap that sits true takes longer than a gun. That is why a market basket here is a hundred and twenty-eight, not thirty.
Furniture, not a prop
Low Cane Stool
A low stool with a woven cane seat. Load-rated, not a prop.
The stool is the longest weave on this site: frame first, then the seat in open cane, then the wraps at every joint. It is furniture, not a basket that learned to stand.
